English/Language Arts Tutorial Available!

If your student is struggling with the content in any way, ELA tutorial is available Thursday afternoons from 3:15-4:45. During this time students can receive extra assistance with the content, finish assignments, or receive help with organization.

No Late, Sloppy, or Incomplete Assignments will be accepted.

All assignments given in the class are designed to help students master the standard being presented. To that end, students are expected to complete all activities to the best of their ability and submit assignments on time in order to maximize the benefits of the task. If a student attempts to submit an assignment late or if it does not reflect the student's best effort, the assignment will be returned to the student, and he/she will have earned a zero in the grade book which cannot be made up.

Study Island Reinforcement

To reinforce the standards being taught in class, students will be assigned Study Island every Monday and it will be due the following Sunday. Students MUST complete at least 20 questions and the highest session score will be taken; however, the highest session score MUST be at least an 85% or better.

SAT Vocabulary Enhancement

Every other Monday students will be assigned 15 vocabulary words with which they will complete 4 practice assignments. Students are to select the assignments they want to complete from the choice board provided to them. All assignments will be completed in students’ vocabulary spiral. Assignments are due the following Monday which will also be the day of students’ vocabulary assessment.

Read Theory Reading Comprehension Practice

On weeks where students do not have vocabulary, students will be required to log on to www.readtheory.org using the log in information provided and complete 10 comprehension quizzes. The 10 scores will be averaged together to get the student’s grade for the assignment. Quiz scores should average to at least an 85% or higher. ANYTHING less will be recorded as a zero.

i-Ready Individualized Reinforcement

On weeks where students do not have Read Theory, students will be required to complete at least 2 i-Ready lessons and quizzes. They will be required to spend a total of 45 minutes in the platform. Students should earn a cumulative score of 85% on the two lessons and meet the time requirements. Failure to meet the above mentioned requirements will result in the students’ grade being recorded as a zero.

Mandatory ESA Book Campaign

In an effort to increase students’ reading stamina and build their reading comprehension skills, they will be required to participate in the Elite Scholars Academy Book Campaign. The details are attached.
